The Great Lakes Tour
Day 1: Munising, MI
Checked the weather for our destination, and it had rain, all day, so we really took our time getting ready to leave this morning. Really took our time. But: by 1:20p we were set to go.
Or were we.
5 minutes later:
Ok so by 2:00 we were ready to actually go 🙂
For real this time.
Very uneventful drive. Rain, rain, more rain.
Had some fried pickles at Tom’s Drive-In because the billboard sold it well, but otherwise went right to the campground.
Right on Lake Superior!
But, still raining so headed into town for some wine tasting at Upper Peninsula. Heidi was our wine connoisseur, and she was hilarious! Things you can do when you aren’t traveling with minors…
Today’s Lessons:
1. 60 degrees on the lake with wind and rain is really more like 40.
2. A surprising lack of service in the area made for some fun driving around.
3. Dan has already made friends with the neighbors. I opted for a beach walk in the freezing rain. #oppositesattract
4. Even though it was a bit of a struggle getting going, having the Scamp instead of setting up in the rain was a game changer!
Total miles: 335
Tentative Agenda:
Munising, MI - Lake Superior
St. Ignace, MI and Mackinac Island
Toronto/Niagara Falls
Cooperstown, NY
Bar Harbor, ME
Return Route: TBD, open to suggestions for Lake Erie!
Adventure is out there! 🎈
